Born/Re-Born

February 15th, 2010

MAIK logoFollowing a very deep conversation with Rune Rex, it was agreed in the company that we all disliked the name MAKEproducts enough to go trough the process of changing it.

Heads were twisted and turned, and through this creative process we came up with something fantastic!
Voilá: MAIK was born!
[pronounced "make"...I'm sure you caught that...]

Now, you would think that the domain www.maik.com is taken — which is exactly what it is. So our corporate domain will be: www.bymaik.com which is also great (six letters…it’s hard to find them smaller than that these days).

We will soon put some content on the website.

Many many thanks goes to Mathias Ambus who created our graphic identity! We owe you!

The Chinese Connection

August 28th, 2009

chinaGreat news for MAKEproducts: we have found the right partner to manage our future supple chain and purchasing in China. We met with Andreas Møller, who lives in Beijing and is just about to finish his studies at CBS.
Out talk with Andreas was incredibly exciting and if possible, it made us even more certain that our mission to make industrial design products in our own brand, produced in China, is indeed within range.
Read more about Andreas Møller at his Linkedin profile.
We’re very happy to welcome Andreas Møller in the MAKEproducts team.

MAKEproducts – a star is born

We finally found a new name for our product design company (berggreenandersen& just didn’t leave much room for a third party), and we’re very happy with the result.
Our company is called MAKEproducts and can be found at www.productsbymake.com.
We currently have a temporary site running (not final logo etc.) but we continue to add content, so make sure to pay us a visit once in a while.

Job at Fullrate A/S

August 5th, 2009

Fullrate

This week I started my new job as executive assistant at Fullrate A/S (www.fullrate.dk) in which my role is to assist on various strategic projects doing some project management, market analysis, decision papers, presentations etc.
The job is a perfect continuation of my prior work experiences and I’m looking into some very exciting new challenges as well as getting a bunch of great colleagues who all seem extremely dedicated and driven.
I’m sure that I’m going to like this new role.

Joining forces with berggreenandersen&

June 4th, 2009

The sky is the limit

Great news. I continued the talks with Rasmus and Rune from berggreenandersen& and we have decided to join forces and start a new business adventure. We will continue using the berggreenandersen& brand for a while since we have plenty of exciting projects on our hands and don’t really have the time to come up with a name, website and identity at the moment; this is a spare time start-up since we all have full time jobs and/or studies.

We currently have five really exciting and promising products in our pipeline and we are investigating different design details, concepts, sales strategies etc. etc.
Since each product lies within its own business segment/area (clever huh? :P) there is plenty of new stuff to learn. Luckily this is a good thing, since it pushes us to get in contact with a lot of interesting people that are all very willing to share their knowledge. More details on the products at a later point…

Helping a children’s home in Moldova

May 21st, 2009

Children's home in Chicinau, Moldova

I just came back from a short stay in Chisinau, Moldova. Moldova is the poorest country in Europe, and although it doesn’t show that much in central Chisinau (the Capitol) it becomes very apparent when travelling half an hour outside of the city.

During our stay my boss (I went there with my colleagues at Kvalitor) had arranged for us to visit a children’s home and to cook some good Danish food for the kids there.

The whole arrangement was very weird in the beginning, but it turned out very well, especially as we learned that the 30 kids “had one ball, but it broke a couple of months ago”…we were glad we brought 8 balls and many other outdoor toys! We also brought some merchandise from one of our clients TDC (playing cards, caps, keyhangers etc.) and it was well recieved.

We left the place some four hours later – rich with emotions and one big experience to keep for many years. We all agreed to continue supporting the children’s home one way or another for as long as our company exists.
I strongly encourage others to do similar things for people less fortunate; although we felt a bit awkward leaving the place so soon, the married couple who were taking care of the kids assured us that we had created a very special afternoon and evening for the kids. And that’s what we aimed for.

Meeting with berggreenandersen&

April 29th, 2009

ba&

Today I met with the two really inspiring people, Rasmus Berggreen and Rune Rex Andersen. They’ve founded the company berggreenandersen& (www.berggreenandersen.com) during their studies in an effort to gain real-life experience from the product design world – something that you don’t really get from studying.

They’ve successfully created a number of products, and have built a healthy relationship with Teknologisk Institut – in other words berggreenandersen& are a great example of Danish entrepreneurship.

We discussed the possibility of combining our worlds – that being their experiences with product design/design in general and my experience from the business world (large scale project management, product development and management, strategy development, process engineering and optimization etc.), and I’m sure you’ll hear more about that in the future.
